Brazil 2012 Sept 23-26 Iguazu Falls Part 1

We made our plane with 20 mins to spare. We were second to last on. Whew. So glad we made it. Prepare yourself for a lot of photos!

Got our long day tour faces on!

First stop Itaipu Dam. The Itaipu Dam is a hydroelectric dam on the Paraná River located on the border between Brazil and Paraguay. That's right. Brazil and Paraguay folks.

We drove on the top of that dam. Somewhere along the way we were on Paraguayan soil. Count as entering another country? Does to me!
This is the view from the top.

Bird Park. This was one of the best Nature Parks we have ever been to!!!
First thing you see when you walk in. A little off but it's amazing that the world over has the same theme prevailing their history and stories. Just a little different.

Having a bad hair day.

Flamingos. Who knew they had so many ways to sleep. Laying down.

On two legs. On one. And what seems to be a VERY uncomfortable double bent knee.

The park has multiple enclosures you can enter. You get to hang with the birds au natural. Most of the birds in theory were a delight. But these guys kept running after us pecking at our ankles!!! Crazy little suckers.

This guy kept coming at J until he found a bench and sat down. The bird curled up right next to him and let J pet him.

"Your hair smells so good! And your earrings are shiny and yummy!"
Who you calling crazy?

No pictures please.

I SAID, no pictures!!!!!

There were also incredible butterfly enclosures.

"Has anyone told you today that your hair smells good?"

"And YOU sir, just TASTE good."

The long awaited for Iguacu National Park. A park that is shared by Brazil and Argentina. This is the Brazilian side.

The hike starts here. You are looking at the Argentinian side.

And as the anticipation builds, the views just get better and better.

From a distance we see our destination. Devil's Throat.

The view of the bridge the next photos are taken from. We got to walk all the way out. It's incredible the view. And how wet we got.

The Devil's Throat

Coatys. These guys were everywhere! We watched as a guy dropped his sandwich off at a table and then walked to the railing to look at the view. Two seconds later this guy jumped up on the table, grabbed the sandwich and was off. Crazy!

Next day. Off to the Argentinian side!! YES! Stamps in our passport!
