Brazil 2012 Sept 8-14

Some misc photos. This pattern on the boardwalk is known to Rio.

Too cool. When you go and see a movie you get to pick your seats when you pay. Niiice.

Restaurants. You're either handed a card like this or a sheet of paper. Each thing you order is added to your card/paper. At the end of your meal you go to the cash register. They ring up whatever is on your card/sheet. Then you're given a piece of paper to hand to the person at the door showing you paid. We lost quite a few before we got the hang of it.

A yummy typical Brazilian meal. Usually sold at a Juice Bar. Random, I know. But SO good. Rice, Beans, Fries, Salad and a piece of protein. This place was right across the street from our apartment.

A sign that can be found on the buses. Preferential seating for Obese, Pregnant, People with children, Older ones or Handicap. "Hello sir, I see you are obese. May I offer you my seat?" I dunno. I just don't see that going over too well.

This is the church that was down the street from our hotel when we first arrived. Turns out its the original Church in Rio. There used to be just one main st right in front of it. Thus today the street flows right around it.

We saw an incredible exhibit at the Centro Cultural Banco Do Brasil. Antony Gormley. It was amazing.

He created about 12 different poses of the human body. (molded after himself). Modeling ourselves. Carolina and Camila.

They were made to be interactive. Camila and Jason.

This room was pitch black with this steel framed thingy that we could walk through. Then randomly the room flashed to bright white. A minute later it went right back to this. It was a crazy experience.

Created from pieces of bread.

There was also an exhibition on one of Brazil's most famous singers. Regina Elis.

And one on James Dean. He needs the truth.

Awesome book store.

I was thrilled. J, not so much. A coffee house built in 1894. We got to talk to the chef.

And eat some of his amazing creations.

After a month and a half I found life after death. Yes, I will answer to Pry. Turns out though, SB isn't as good as home.

Service with Camila in the Portuguese.

Because of the high rise apartment buildings with doormen, the friends stand outside each apartment for about 15-20 mins talking to whoever enters or exits the building. And then they move on to the next.

At the market after service. Beautifully colored fruit.

This is one of the SMALLER avocados.

The girls made us lunch. I made an "American" salad.

Camila with her parents, brother Yonotan and his girlfriend Carolina from earlier. Great family. Dad's a doctor. After being sick for almost 2 weeks he asked to examine us. Gave us some medicine and made us promise to call if we didn't get better.

We had dinner with this great Bethelite couple, Paolo and Sany DeNardi, that we met at the Special Convention. They are in the Legal Department. Lawyers. But because they have to be able to get to the courthouse and file documents they live outside of Bethel behind a Kingdom Hall.

Paolo and his sense of humor.
