Brazil 2012 Sept 23-26 Iguazu Falls Part 2

The Argentinian side starts off differently. It's got beautiful lanes, stone steps and incredible up close views of the waterfalls.
Views that start from the rivers that feed into the waterfalls.

To the views looking straight down as the water falls.

These little birdies are called Swifts. They dive for insects as they go over the side of the waterfalls. Then the swifts go right back to perching on the side of the rocks. Crazy to watch.

We really get up close views.

See this little island in the middle? We booked our Argentina side through a guy back in Brazil. Ever so helpful he said we wouldn't have time to make it to this island. And that the climb would be too much. Wanna guess what we made sure to do?

On a boat headed across to the island.

We climbed 200 steps. Yeah. They were vertical. But the views were worth it!

The island is on the left. There's a little ledge on the very far right side. Up close and personal to the waterfall.

These vultures had their own dry dead section. If not perching on a branch they are flying through the mist of the falls.

I got this little guy to perch on my hand by singing a beautiful tune. Ok. Snow White I'm not. I had a bunch of chip crumbs in my hand to bribe him with. At first the birds would just grab a crumb while in flight and take off. This guy was smart. He clung to my hand and ate them all.

Back off the island onto the main part of the hike, the views are incredible.

Everything is so green due to all the mist.

Our hike has lead us to a long walkway over deceptively calm rivers to the Devil's Throat. But as we get closer something gets bigger and louder....

The Devil's Throat

Up close. It was so loud, wet and windy. It was awe inspiring. Jehovah's power is just amazing.

Looking out from the Devil's Throat. In the distance you can see a tall building with a circular top to it. That's where we were yesterday taking photos of the Devil's Throat from a distance. Show's just how close we are to it today.

Back on the airplane leaving Iguacu Falls. We were so impressed with the majesty and power of the falls. But then we flew over them. Amazing that that huge thing is only that small mist part in the background of this photo. Puts us into perspective of how small we are to Jehovah and yet how well he takes care of us. These beautiful waterfalls are really for the enjoyment of man.
